lovelier the second time around

the first time was 25 years ago.
and i was just sending him postcards then.
but paris was lovelier the second time around.

somehow the colors against the sky were more vivid.
somehow the city bustled with much more excitement.
somehow the ancient structures came to life.
somehow the scent of the seine always lingered fresh.
somehow the music of beethoven played continously in my head.
somehow the food was much more flavorful.

somehow the energy to explore was endless.
somehow the days were just never ever enough.
somehow the nights were more romantic than ever.

because this time i was with no one else but him,
my best friend, soul mate, life partner, lover.

that is why paris was lovelier the second time around.

i remember sleeping through the bus ride along the siene. but those were the younger days when we were up all night at the hotel and sleeping in the bus...almost 30 years ago...didn't realize that was a long time ago.

yes, that kind of music too... but mainly at night. :)

my most vivid memories of our palaronda tour back then was melanie's bratwurst wherever we went, dennis' profession of love on the hotel bathroom mirror, and us posing while scratching our ears (my style) at carcasonne...

melis,
of course all that and my getting a fill of the wine we brought home from the lido de paris show that we lined up in the bath tub filled with cold water. i learned the meaning of the term "up and down" --- after that, i swore: NEVER AGAIN!!!

the best place to be when you're with someone you love and who loves you back....

i was last there when i was still single. It was fun to be with friends...but better with your lovey.

What was that line from Casablanca? "We'll always have Paris." Glad to see you and Gary lit up the City of Lights.
